Become an Explorer

So, you want to become an Explorer?

Well, you come to the right place!

       We at North Snohomish County Fire Explorer Post # 697 believe that anyone who may be interested in the fire service should have the chance to become an Explorer. But those individuals must meet certain requirements as stated in our Policies and Procedures. Those requirements include but are not limited to:
     I. You must be between 14 and 18 years of age.
     II. You must have completed Grade 8.
     III. You shall have a past free of illegal activities and violent behavior.
     IV. You shall pass a criminal background check.
     V. You must possess/maintain and cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.0      (C-) or higher or equivalent in school course work. (will be checked regularly)

       Once your application is received by a Post Advisor, he / she will contact you about setting up a meeting date which you will meet with the board of Post Advisors and the Explorer Captain or Explorer Acting Captain regarding an interview. After which, you will be asked to attend a general meeting for the purpose of meeting the current Explorer Post and Department Personnel. After you attend the general drill, your performance will be evaluated by Post Leadership Personnel and you will possibly receive the rank of Probationary Fire Explorer. During which, you will be required to attend all drills and meetings. Two unexcused absences will result in immediate dismissal of the program. Once you have passed the Probationary Period, you will gain full access to the Post and become a general Fire Explorer with full privileges. Once filling out the application form, you will be emailed a download link of the NSC Explorer Post Policies and Procedures. You are expected to know all of our policies and procedures before you become an explorer. The purpose of this is to show your dedication to the post and show us you really want to become an Explorer.
